Aston Villa: Manchester United’s favourite opponents

Prior to Saturday lunch time’s kick-off at Old Trafford when Manchester United open the Premier League weekend at home to Aston Villa, David Moyes’ side have taken more points against the West Midlands club than any other opponent in the Premier League.

It helps that the Villans have been an ever-present in the Premier League; along with Manchester United themselves, and Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United have amassed 30 victories in their 43 Premier League matches against Aston Villa. That number of victories is matched only against Everton, but United have suffered 6 more defeats versus the Toffees than the Villans.

A full list of Manchester United’s head-to-head record in the Premier League is as follows:

At the opposite end of the table, Burnley are the only side Manchester United average less than 2 points per game against (1.5).  Chelsea are the only other side Manchester United have failed to beat more times than they have lost to.
