Çağlar Söyüncü becomes the 11th Turkish player to score in the Premier League

Leicester City moved back into third place in the 2019-20 Premier League table on Sunday with a 2-0 win away to Crystal Palace.

The win saw the Foxes move six points ahead of Arsenal down in fifth to further increase their chances of UEFA Champions League football next season.

Centre-back Çağlar Söyüncü opened the scoring just before the hour mark – the 23-year-old’s first goal for the club.

In the process, Söyüncü became the 11th different Turkish player to score in the Premier League, and second for Leicester – after Muzzy Izzet.

Izzet was actually the first Turkish player to score in the Premier League, since it inauguration in 1992. The midfielder did so for Leicester, although originally came through the youth ranks of Chelsea in the early 1990s, without playing a single Premier League game for the Blues.

The Leicester club legend finished his career in 2008 with Birmingham City.

Between the first and latest Turkish goalscorer in the Premier League, the other nine can be found in the table below, sorted by number of goals:
