Confirmed teams: Arsenal vs Liverpool – Aubameyang left out, Oxlade-Chamberlain starts

Arsenal entertain Premier League champions Liverpool in north London this evening [8.15 kick-off].

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is under huge pressure to get back to winning ways after losing to Tottenham on Sunday as defeat tonight would all but end their hopes of qualifying for the Europa League.

However, Arteta has decided to leave top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the bench this evening in order to give him a rest ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final with Man City.

Reiss Nelson is recalled to start in the Arsenal attack while Bukayo Saka appears to be playing at left wing-back with Kieran Tierney moved into the back three alongside David Luiz and Rob Holding. Lucas Torreira and Cedric Soares are also given recalls by the Arsenal boss.

Liverpool have gone with virtually a full strength side as Mo Salah and Sadio Mane start in attack alongside Roberto Firmino. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain starts against his former club in midfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold comes back in to the defence alongside Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson so youngster Neco Williams makes way.

These are the line-ups for the game:

Arsenal

Martinez, Holding, Luiz, Tierney, Cedric, Xhaka, Torreira, Saka, Nelson, Pepe, Lacazette

Subs: Bellerin, Papastathopoulos, Ceballos, Aubameyang, Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Willock, Kolasinac, Macey

Liverpool

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Subs: Adrian, Lovren, Keita, Minamino, Shaqiri, Origi, Jones, Elliott, Williams.

Arsenal are winless in their last nine Premier League meetings with Liverpool and haven’t won since 2015. The Merseysiders are also unbeaten in their last four trips to the Emirates so this is going to be a tough task for the Gunners.

The North Londoners have conceded 90 Premier League goals against Liverpool – which is more than any other side – and their defence has been poor for several seasons so we should expect goals at the Emirates tonight!
