Manchester Untied have made an official bid for FC Sochaux centre-back Willy Kambwala, according to reports in France.
We have been strongly linked with a number of established stars already this summer, including Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Kalidou Koulibaly.
Kambwala comes as a much lesser profile name given that he is only 15 years of age. He has been identified as a potential addition to our academy, which has produced a number of our current stars, including Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams.
French outlet RMC Sport are today reporting that we have made an offer of less than €1 million for the teenager but that the Ligue 2 outfit are set to decline.
Willy Kambwala stands at an imposing 6’4″ and is a France Under-16 international. However, Sochaux are believed to have little interest in selling their prized talent unless we double our offer.
That doesn’t seem unreasonable whilst he is under contract for another two years.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done an excellent job in nurturing talent into the Manchester United first time, with the likes of Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Brandon Williams all flourishing under his guidance.
Ivan Perisic and Jeremy Menez are two of the more famous players in recent years to have come through the youth system at FC Sochaux. The club themselves were champions of France twice during the 1930s.
