10 stats ahead of Burnley vs Chelsea, Teams News and Predicted Line-ups

Burnley host Chelsea today in their sixth Premier League game of the campaign and will be keen to finally pick up their first three points of the season.

The Blues are looking for their third league win after their first six league games of 2020-21 produced two wins, a loss and three draws, and they will hope to take advantage of Burnley’s poor start to the campaign.

The Turf Moor outfit were close to holding Tottenham Hotspur to a draw on Monday and will look to shut out Chelsea today after failing last time out.

A keenly-contested affair should be expected today, and here are 10 interesting stats ahead of the game:

1 – Burnley have won just once in all of their 12 Premier League matches against Chelsea and have scored just one league goal from open play this season.

2 – Chelsea are hoping to keep clean sheets in consecutive league matches for the first time under manager Frank Lampard.

2+ – Frank Lampard’s side have scored two goals or more in each of their five away victories over Burnley.

3 – Edouard Mendy can become the third Chelsea goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in each of his first three Premier League appearances for the club, following in the footsteps of Neil Sullivan and Petr Cech.

4 – Burnley could lose four consecutive English Premier League home games for the first time since 2010.

5 – The Clarets could suffer five defeats in their opening six top-flight matches for the first time since 1927-28.

6 – Chelsea are unbeaten in all six of their Premier League fixtures away to Burnley, drawing once and winning five times at Turf Moor.

9 – Chelsea have conceded nine goals and picked up nine points in six Premier League games in 2020-21.

19.6% – Burnley have played 19.6% of their passes long, the highest percentage in the Premier League this season.

100 – Johann Berg Gudmundsson could play his 100th Premier League game today if fit while Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood could both make their 100th Premier League appearance for Burnley.

Burnley’s Johann Berg Gudmundsson is a doubt for Chelsea’s visit due to a calf injury, and Erik Pieters is set to miss out due to the same problem.

Phil Bardsley is yet to return a negative coronavirus test and will miss the game.

Ben Mee and Jack Cork are also expected to sit this clash out as they are yet to fully recover.

Chelsea only have Kepa Arrizabalaga’s shoulder problem to worry about, and Billy Gilmour is yet to fully recover from a knee surgery.

It’s a fit squad for Lampard aside from the duo, and Thiago Silva could return to the line-up after he was rested for midweek’s Champions League trip.
