With news emerging that Edinson Cavani could be on his way out of Old Trafford, the famous number seven shirt could be up for grabs again next season.
With likes of David Beckham, Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo all having sported the seven shirt in the last 20 years, it’s easy to see why pressure can come with it.
Since the departure of Ronaldo, Alexis Sanchez, Angel Di Maria and Memphis Depay are the biggest names to have been saddled with the number seven shirt, but none of them made the grade at Old Trafford and all subsequently moved on without becoming a cult figure.
Perhaps this is just bad luck or maybe it boils down to the expectation that comes with wearing the famous number – only the players themselves will be able to answer that.
Some United fans would even add their current number seven to that list – Edinson Cavani – although it seems a tad harsh to tar him with the same brush as the aforementioned trio.
Cavani has found game time hard to come by and has been limited to mainly substitute appearances, but with his contract up this summer, so could be the number seven shirt.
The likes of Jadon Sancho have been linked with United and maybe it could be him to take over the reigns as the new number seven?
But in fact, United fans have their eye on someone else taking over the famous shirt – a familiar face who had no issues in the past….
When Cavani leaves the number 7 shirt vacant, everyone expects Sancho or Haaland to fill it and we end up with Nathan Redmond on deadline day. pic.twitter.com/5J7nxT64rF

Number 7 free again?
We need a replacement?
Juventus in their worst form?
United in their best form since SAF?
Only means one thing. pic.twitter.com/MnbHclJ7OI
