Liverpool are interested in a move for Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu, following Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury, according to Italian news outlet CalcioMercatoWeb.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was forced off during Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Crystal Palace in Singapore two weeks ago with a hamstring injury which left Jurgen Klopp admitting at the pre-Manchester City press conference that the England international’s injury is ‘serious’ (Liverpool official).
The report claims that the Reds had considered moving for the Turkish international earlier this summer, but could now step up their interest as a result of losing one of their current midfield options.
The Athletic have previously reported that Liverpool could be without the services of Oxlade-Chamberlain for around three months.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury is a big blow to Jurgen Klopp’s plans as he looks once again to compete on multiple fronts this season, having already lifted the Community Shield with a convincing win against Manchester City.
At 28, Calhanoglu is an experienced pro and would add some experience to the middle of the park, however, Klopp certainly trusts in his younger players with the likes of Harvey Elliott certainly able to make his mark this season.
