Ten Hag tells Jadon Sancho he can be part of a Man Utd team that can challenge for title next season

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag held individual heart-to-heart meetings with his players before they headed off for the summer break, reports the Sun.

The Dutchman explained to Jadon Sancho how he can be part of his starting XI.

Ten Hag wants the England international attacker to play a key role in his team next term.

He has spelt out exactly how he sees the 23-year-old fitting into his plans.

The Man Utd boss reckons his squad can challenge for the title next season.

Ten Hag has told his players they are the only team able to challenge Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City next season.

The Etihad Stadium club completed the treble on Saturday to equal the record the Red Devils set in 1999.

Man City pipped Man United to the FA Cup a week ago before beating Inter Milan 1-0 in the final of the Champions League yesterday.

They have won the Premier League three times in a row and will be raring to go again next term.

However, Ten Hag has plans to stop them and he sent out a rallying cry to his players after the FA Cup final.

Sancho joined the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million two years ago.

He has failed to impress despite the superb form he displayed in Germany.

Sancho bagged 50 goals and 54 assists in the four seasons he spent with Dortmund.

However, the former Man City youth player has weighed in with 12 goals and 16 assists since joining Man United.

He spent three months away working on physical and mental issues before returning to action in February.

Sancho will be keen to prove himself next term and could be hard to stop if he rediscovers the form of his Dortmund days.
