Tottenham Hotspur set to sign Hajduk Split centre-back Luka Vuskovic

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of completing the signing of Hajduk Split centre-back Luka Vuskovic, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Croatian has had interest from five other top clubs, but he only wants to join Spurs and has agreed personal terms with the North London club.

Tottenham and Hajduk are now finalising paperwork ahead of a move for the 16-year-old.

Vuskovic made his professional debut in February two days after clocking 16, starting and playing 90 minutes in a league derby match against Dinamo Zagreb.

He became the youngest goalscorer in the history of Hajduk Split three days later after opening the scoring in their 2–1 win over NK Osijek in the quarter-finals of the 2022-23 Croatian Football Cup and made 11 appearances across all competitions last term.

Vuskovic stands at 6ft 4in and is already playing like a top professional, but he will not be immediately linking up with Ange Postecoglou’s side when he joins Spurs in January, with a move to the under-23s the most likely decision.

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City were some of the clubs that were very interested in Vuskovic, with the reigning Premiers League champions tabling a €12 million bid for the teenage sensation back in April.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle United also scouted the defender at Stade de Geneve back in April, but it is Tottenham that have won the race for his services.

Vuskovic will not be able to play in England until he is 18, so he is likely to be loaned out during the January transfer window when his registration goes through.

He is not the type of signing that would excite Spurs fans as he is one for the future, but he boasts huge potential and could be playing for their first-team before he turns 20 if he keeps developing at this rate.
