Everton are one of the clubs heavily interested in signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City in the January window.
According to a report from Sunday People (15 October, page 57), Phillips could consider his future at the club in January, although claims being made that he has already chosen to leave the club are wide of the mark.
The Toffees were interested in signing him during the summer window and could consider a loan move for him in January if he at all decides to move. Phillips is still determined to impress Pep Guardiola but he is being consistently ignored by the Spaniard.
Newcastle are also interested in signing the 27-year-old who has managed just 70 minutes of action in the Premier League so far. Sunday People claims that Phillips will wait until December, that is the next two months, before deciding his future.
Phillips would be perfect for Everton
Since moving from Leeds in 2022 for a fee of £45m, Phillips has badly struggled to make a strong impact.
He is arguably one of the finest defensive midfielders in the country and impressed heavily in Euro 2020. He cannot simply waste his career sitting on the bench, as he might lose his spot in the national team under Gareth Southgate who has been very loyal to him.
While Phillips is capable of playing for any top side in the Premier League, and also for Bayern Munich, who are also interested, he should choose Everton as his next move. Everton – who are looking to avoid another relegation battle – will get a massive lift to have Phillips on their side.
Also, Phillips badly needs regular games under his belt. Sean Dyche can provide him with that, he can walk into the first team easily, and the move can work for all parties involved.
