Ange Postecoglou impressed by Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp

Tottenham Hotspur will face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday (26 November) after the international break.

Ahead of the match, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou spoke about midfielder Oliver Skipp who has struggled for regular game time this season.

The 23-year-old started the opening game of the season but since then he has managed only six appearances from the bench.

Postecoglou has suggested that Skipp has impressed him in training this week, and the “challenge” for him now is to replicate that in games. He said that Skipp will get game time in coming weeks as Spurs are missing a host of key players.

“Skippy has been working hard in training. He’s obviously one of the guys who has stayed back with us — we’ve had four or five,” said Postecoglou, as quoted by Football London.

“He’s done a lot of good work, the last couple of weeks. He’s working hard, waiting for his opportunity. But that doesn’t mean he can’t make an impact — and he has made an impact coming on during games and helping us.

“The challenge for him, for all the guys, is there’s no doubt the way we are at the moment with the numbers, they’ll all get an opportunity to play. It’s about what they do with that.”

Key match

Skipp is a highly talented midfielder and it looks like he is doing incredibly well in training. Postecoglou has assured that players will get chances in the coming weeks and Skipp will be hoping to impress his manager on the pitch.

Spurs will be looking to return to winning ways this Sunday when they take on Villa. They have lost two games in a row for the first time this season, and are up against an inform team.

Villa have surprised everyone with their outstanding home form and pundits like Tony Cascarino feel that they can pip Spurs to get into the top four this season.
