Ange Postecoglou keen on reuniting with Jota at Tottenham Hotspur

Five issues Ange Postecoglou must fix at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Al Ittihad winger, Jota in a bid to reunite the 24-year-old with former manager, Ange Postecoglou, as per Daily Express

Following a run of three successive defeats, Tottenham’s coach, Postecoglou is keen on bringing in Jota, who was a key player for the 58-year-old during their time at Celtic.

The pair won five trophies together including the Scottish title at Celtic and are set to repeat that feat as Spurs are once again title contenders.

While Postecoglou left to join Spurs, Jota switched to the Saudi Pro League to join Al Ittihad but has been a fringe player since his arrival and has been reported to be out of favor at the club.

With injury to Micky van de Ven, center-back is believed to be top of Spurs agenda in the transfer market but The Times report that Spurs will also search for a winger with Jota high on the list.

Potential reunion

Postecoglou and Jota collaborated at Celtic from August 2021 to June 2023. During this period, Jota excelled for the Scottish team, contributing 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 matches across various competitions.

His outstanding performance played a key role in Celtic securing two Scottish Premiership titles, one Scottish Cup, and two Scottish League Cups.

Despite their shared success, Postecoglou and Jota went their separate ways in the summer. Postecoglou departed to become the new manager of Tottenham, while Jota joined Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad.

However, the transfer hasn’t gone smoothly for Jota. After featuring in five league matches, he faced exclusion from the squad as Al Ittihad is limited to eight foreign players at a time. Consequently, Jota has been restricted to playing in AFC Champions League matches only.

Due to these challenges, there are strong indications that Jota is considering an early departure from Al Ittihad, with Tottenham actively involved in discussions about potentially signing him.

While being out of favor in the Saudi Pro League, Al Ittihad would be open to selling Jota, and the 24-year-old is believed to be open to reuniting with his former Boss at Tottenham.
