Celtic defender Liam Scales is attracting interest from a host of European clubs, with Anderlecht considering a move for him, as per Football Scotland.
After spending last season on loan at Aberdeen, Scales was drafted into the first-team fold as several first-team players suffered incessant injuries. The Ireland international has since been one of the standout performers this season in the Scottish Premiership, putting on solid performances for The Bhoys.
Brendan Rodgers faces a daunting task in keeping the 25-year-old at Celtic Park amid increasing interest in the youngster. Rodgers earlier admitted that Scales was one of the biggest surprises of his coaching career. The Ireland international has staked a claim at left center-back, forming a formidable partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers.
With 18 months left on his contract, Celtic will face increasing pressure to retain Scales who is becoming a valuable member of the squad. However, The Bhoys are intent on increasing his contract to keep him at Celtic Park for the long foreseeable future.
Celtic plan to keep him at the club. Recently Rodgers was quizzed on the state of Scale’s current contract, and he stated that it is something will look at.
Rodgers has also made assurances that justify his stay in the team as long as he keeps putting up impressive performances.
It remains to be seen if Scales will agree to a deal at Celtic Park or leave to join another team as persisting interest in him continues.
Meanwhile, Celtic dropped points against Motherwell this week but they still maintain a healthy lead over Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
