Don Hutchison has showered praise on Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk after his brilliant performance against Brentford.
The Dutchman was superb at the heart of defence as the Reds earned a 3-0 victory against Brentford on Sunday (12 November) at Anfield.
Two goals from Mohamed Salah and one from Diogo Jota earned all three points for Jurgen Klopp’s side who moved to second in the Premier League behind Manchester City.
Liverpool have shared a video clip where Van Dijk made a goalline clearance, and Hutchison reacted to it. The ESPN pundit says that the 32-year-old centre-back has been “back to his very best” in the last couple of months.
“Back to his very best the last couple months,” wrote Hutchison on X.

Title challenge?
After dropping out of the top four last season, Liverpool needed a massive rebuild in the summer. However, the club always believed in Klopp who was instrumental in guiding Liverpool to Premier League and Champions League glory in recent years.
Van Dijk has etched his name as arguably one of the best centre-backs for the club and probably in Premier League history as well.
Last season, it felt like the Dutchman had lost a yard of pace. He made a few mistakes that we normally don’t associate with him, and it led to many thinking about whether Liverpool should consider planning a long-term replacement for him.
However, he has been brilliant so far. The Reds have maintained consistency so far but they are yet to reach their best form. At the moment, it is important for the club to forget about the title race, and simply focus on winning every game.
With Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur (and Aston Villa) providing a fantastic challenge already, we can expect a tough fight for the title.
