Fulham are interested in signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips, with Joao Palhinha’s future remaining in doubt, as per 90min.
The Cottagers are making plans to replace Palhinha who almost joined Bayern for just shy of £60m in the summer transfer window.
Palhinha is a key player for Fulham and has signed a new long-term deal at Craven Cottage. He is the highest-paid player at the club and has been in outstanding form this season.
Fulham are aware that Bayern Munich have not given up on signing Palhinha and that they could make a move in January.
90min claims that Fulham are looking at a number of midfielders and one of them is Phillips. The England international has struggled for regular games at the Etihad and a potential move in January is expected.
Fulham should move for Phillips
The 27-year-old midfielder joined Man City from Leeds in the summer of 2022 and has failed to make an impact. While Pep Guardiola acknowledges the talent of Phillips, he cannot give him regular game time.
According to a report from the Mirror, Guardiola has given him the green light to make the move in January.
Phillips won the Premier League title with City last season but he will definitely be aiming to play more regularly. These are the prime years for a central midfielder and wasting time on the bench is hardly ideal.
The highly-rated midfielder could get offers from other Premier League clubs as well, and a loan move in January looks likely. He should decide to move to a club where he will get regular games, and Fulham won’t be a bad option.
