Fulham are leading the race to sign Brazilian midfielder Andre, according to a report from Brazilian media outlet UOL.
The Cottagers are in the market to sign a new midfielder, and Andre has emerged as a “priority” target for Marco Silva.
Fulham could lose Joao Palhinha at some point in the future, and they are actively looking for a replacement. The youngster is also closely monitored by Arsenal and Liverpool, and Fluminense value him at around £30m.
He has emerged as a key player for the club and is seen as one of the rising stars of Brazilian football. All three clubs have sent their representatives to watch Andre recently, but it appears that Fulham are leading the race at the moment.
The 21-year-old has a contract at the Brazilian club until 2026.
Replacement for Palhinha?
Fulham have done incredibly well for Silva but to stay in the Premier League and do consistently well, they need to have quality players.
Palhinha has been immense for the club over the past 18 months and his outstanding performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Bayern Munich made an attempt to sign him before and there is a feeling that they could come again for him.
Arsenal are showing keen interest in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz which means the door could be open for Fulham to sign him if they can submit a good offer.
Liverpool could be an interesting option as well, but Jurgen Klopp may have other plans. Andre is a quality defensive midfielder and he would be a like-for-like replacement for Palhinha.
