Gabby Agbonlahor furious as Bukayo Saka picks another injury

Bukayo Saka appeared to have picked up an injury as Arsenal won 2-0 against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday (8 November) night.

The England international scored the second goal of the game and also provided an assist. But he limped off during the game, and talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor was “furious” with Mikel Arteta’s decision.

In fact, Arteta said after the game that Saka should be used to getting kicked. The winger went off injured before the end having got some rough treatment from Sevilla defenders all night, and Arteta will now hope that he can play in the Premier League clash against Burnley.

Agbonlahor said (talkSPORT, 9 November) that “it winds him up” to see that Saka wasn’t replaced as he thinks Arteta should protect his key player.

“It winds me up. You see two subs getting ready. Nelson and Vieira. You’re thinking Saka is going to come off, rest him. Who comes off? Trossard and Martinelli!,” said Agbonlahor on talkSPORT.

Makes sense

Both Trossard and Martinelli recently came into the first team after a long injury lay-off, so Arteta was probably right by taking them off.

However, Saka is a key player for the Gunners and it is also Arteta’s job to protect him as much as he can. Saka has already missed a few games this season, and it will come as a blow if he misses against Burnley this weekend.

Sevilla, meanwhile, were completely outplayed by the Gunners who sit top Group B on nine points from four games. Arsenal managed 62% of possession and attempted 11 shots during the game, as per BBC Sport.
