Liverpool are third in the league table at the moment and they will be aiming to mount a serious title challenge. However, this is a squad in transition and Klopp needs more quality players to challenge Manchester City for the title.
During the summer, Liverpool signed as many as four midfielders, but Carragher thinks that a top-class defensive midfielder is needed. Alexis MacAllister is not a natural defensive midfielder, and that’s why Klopp must get the right balance for his side.
Liverpool urgently need to sign a top-class central defender and they need to spend big to get the right player. The club need to find a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk although the Dutchman still remains one of the best in the league.
Joel Matip could leave the club next summer following the expiry of his contract while the likes of Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez have struggled with injuries in recent years and haven’t recaptured their best form.
