Genk Midfielder Bilal El Khannouss has caught the attention of Liverpool who have added the attacking midfielder to their shortlist, as per TeamTalk.
The Morocco International is one of the impressive youngsters in the Jupiler Pro League for Genk this season, and the Belgian club believe they could cash in on the player who is attracting interest from big clubs.
Italian outlet, II Corriere Dello Sport reports that El Khannouss is attracting interest from Liverpool and Tottenham in the Premier League. While both clubs are closely keeping tabs on him, it would take a bid in the region of £15.5m to seal a deal for the 19-year-old.
El Khannouss joined Genk Anderlecht’s academy back in 2019 and has since risen to prominence, featuring in 48 Jupiler Pro League matches. The 19-year-old was assigned the no. 10 jersey this season and has scored three goals and provided an assist for Wouter Vrancken’s team this season.
Genk’s academy have produced some of the world’s most renowned players over the years. From Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois to Yannick Carrasco, Christian Benteke, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic Divock Origi and Leandro Trossard, Genk’s list of academy graduates epitomizes the club’s standards for growing and grooming young talents.
Recent reports indicate that El Khannouss has emerged as Genk’s new rising star and Liverpool are set to recoup the youngster into the first-team fold.
Bilal El Khannous’ ascent in the football world has been nothing short of meteoric. Despite having made just one substitute appearance for the senior team prior to this season, the Belgian-born teenager has swiftly become a regular in the side. Not only has he secured his place in domestic football, but El Khannous has also caught the eye of the Moroccan national team, earning his international debut in the World Cup 3rd/4th place play-off against Croatia. This rapid rise reflects his exceptional talent and promising future in both club and international football.
As the African Cup of Nations in January draws close, El Khannouss will likely be with the Moroccan nation team, and it is unclear whether The Reds will seal a deal this January or risk losing the player to rivals in the summer.
