Liverpool are still in the picture to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre, and they are ready to spend big for him, according to Goal Brasil.
The Reds bolstered their midfielder in the summer transfer window with Jurgen Klopp adding as many as four new players, but it appears that signing a proper defensive midfielder is necessary.
Liverpool have been tracking Andre for a while but they are likely to face strong competition from Premier League rivals Fulham.
Goal Brasil claims that Fluminense are preparing to sell Andre in the January transfer window and they are looking to pocket a fee of around £30m for him.
Both Liverpool and Fulham are willing to pay a “high price”, and the player’s next destination is likely to be in the Premier League.
The Rio club is aware that interest in Andre is growing and that they are now waiting for formal offers.
The Reds have made contact with the Brazilian club already, but they are yet to come up with a formal bid.
Should Liverpool sign him?
Andre is a terrific young player, and he would be a quality signing for the club. The 22-year-old is one of the emerging stars of Brazilian football and it is only a matter of time before he moves to a top club, be it in the Premier League or elsewhere.
The Reds spent heavily to bolster their midfield this summer but Klopp won’t mind spending another £30m to sign another solid defensive midfielder whose best years are ahead of him.
Liverpool, at the same time, need to add depth and quality in defence, and a new defender is also a priority. Fulham could also win the race, especially if Joao Palhinha leaves the club.
