Ange Postecoglou has suggested that Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven could be out for a while after he picked up a “significant” injury against Chelsea.
Spurs lost 4-1 against the Blues on Monday night (6 November) in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which was their first defeat of the season.
Postecoglou will miss Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie for the next game as well after both of them picked up red cards during the match. However, it is the injury of Van de Ven that should come as a real blow.
On top of it, Spurs could lose their creative playmaker James Maddison as well. The England international was taken off at the break and Postecoglou has suggested that he will be assessed.
“It’s too early but looking at Micky you’re thinking it’s a pretty significant one so you’d assume he’ll be out for a little while. Madders got a knock on the ankle and we’ll just have to assess him and see how it is,” said Postecoglou, as quoted by Football London.
It was a chaotic London derby where five goals were disallowed across the 90 minutes. Spurs did fight bravely despite losing Romero who was rightly shown the red card for his challenge on Enzo Fernandez. However, Tottenham gambled on continuing with the high line and conceded three goals after the break.
Maddison appears to have picked up an ankle injury while Van de Ven looks like he has damaged his hamstring. Both are unlikely to travel to Molineux when Spurs face Wolves in the Premier League next Saturday.
