Clinton Morrison blown away by Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice

Arsenal have returned to winning ways in the Premier League after they won 2-0 against Brighton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday (17 December).

Clinton Morrison has showered heaps of praise on Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, and hailed him as “magnificent”. He says that Rice has been “outstanding” against Brighton as he produced a commanding display in midfield.

The Gunners created loads of chances during the game, and it was just one-way traffic throughout. However, they had to wait until the 53rd minute when Gabriel Jesus scored with a header.

Brighton came close to scoring and leveling the tie towards the end but Pascal Groß couldn’t direct his effort on goal. However, the game was put beyond doubt when Kai Kavertz scored a fantastic goal after being put through by Eddie Nketiah in the 87th minute.

Rice was superb throughout the game, and he also came close to scoring after darting into the box with a surging run, but his effort was saved by the goalie.

“Rice has been outstanding. He’s a big influence on this team,” said Morisson on BBC Radio 5 Live, relayed by BBC Sport.

“He covers the ground, he drives forward and he intercepts. He does it all. I think he’s magnificent.”

What a title race!

This is turning out to be a fascinating title race. Aston Villa came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory against Brentford away from home where Ollie Watkins scored the winner.

Liverpool and Manchester City are also in the mix while Tottenham Hotspur are looking to get better after a blip in form.

Rice has been immense for both club and country. Arsenal finished second in the league last season, and they needed a player like Rice who has hardly put a foot wrong so far. He has been extraordinarily good in some games, and even in average games, he comes up with a 7-8/10 performance.
