Jurgen Klopp shares what he told Liverpool players after win v Crystal Palace

Five issues Jurgen Klopp must tackle at Liverpool

Liverpool earned a massive 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday (9 December).

The Reds came from behind to snatch all three points, but they were very flat and poor until the 76th minute. After Jordan Ayew received the second yellow and left the pitch, Liverpool exerted their dominance, thanks to the numerical advantage.

Mohamed Salah scored quickly after Ayew’s sending-off and reached the milestone of scoring 200 goals for his club in all competitions. He has also reached 150 goals in the Premier League.

Towards the end of the game, Harvey Elliott, who came off the bench, scored the winner, which Alan Shearer has rightly described as “magnificent”.

Klopp wasn’t too impressed with the performance and he said that he told his players the truth after the game. He said that it was a bad performance from them until the 76th minute, and they still managed to win it.

James Pearce of The Athletic quotes Klopp, as he shared on X, “I told the boys that’s the first time I saw someone play as bad as we did for 76 minutes and still win it.”

It was a massive win for the Reds though they were very flat for most of the game. Alisson, who returned from injury, made a couple of great saves, including right at the end, and played a big role in the win.

After Elliott came on, Liverpool played with more energy and created some fantastic chances. They managed only two shots on target and scored from both of them.

The performance should have been better but the most important thing is that they have picked up the crucial three points. In a long race, teams will be challenged away from home, but grinding out results could make all the difference in the end.
