Manchester United remain in hunt to sign Jean-Clair Todibo

Manchester United remain in the race to sign Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg

The Red Devils are looking to bolster their defence in the January transfer window, and they have earmarked the 23-year-old as a potential option.

Plettenberg also says that his arrival will not affect United’s plans to sign Antonio Silva – who is their main target – in the summer transfer window.

Todibo is one of the standout performers in Ligue 1 for Nice this season, and a host of clubs including Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign him, as per Evening Standard.

He should be available at around £39m, and United could also face a challenge from Liverpool for his signature.

The Red Devils have steadily improved after a poor start to the season, but Erik ten Hag needs more quality players to challenge for the top-four spot.

The race for the top four is very intense this season, with the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle are competing for the elusive fourth spot.

United also showed interest in signing him during the summer window, but the player wasn’t sure about moving abroad. However, things could easily change in the January window.

Raphael Varane has dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford while Ten Hag may look to bring in young players who will fit in his long-term plans. Todibo has been in tremendous form or the past 18 months, and he would be a terrific addition to the side.
