Rangers set to secure signing of Fabio Silva

Rangers are close to securing their first signing of the January window after a deal has been agreed for Wolves forward Fabio Silva.

According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the Gers have agreed a loan deal to sign the Portugal forward, and the reliable journalist has said in his customary style – “here we go”, which suggests that the player will be on his way to Ibrox shortly.

The 21-year-old will join the club for the rest of the season, and the contract does not include any option to buy.

Romano says that new Rangers boss Philippe Clement has played an important role in securing the deal. The Portuguese will sign a new contract soon.

Good move?

Clement has made a strong start to his managerial career. The Bears were heading in the wrong direction under Michael Beale. He first arrested the decline and made Rangers competitive again.

The Gers are now only five points behind rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table and they have played two games less. If they can win their games in hand, they will force their way to the top of the league table.

At the same time, Rangers have done incredibly well in the Europa League campaign this season. They have moved into the knockout stages, and it remains to be seen if they can repeat another great run in Europe and reach the final once again.

Silva joined Wolves in 2020 and has scored five goals in 73 games for the club. In between, he has been on loan to PSV Eindhoven and Anderlecht. He hasn’t been a big success at Wolves, but given his age, there is a belief that he will come good at some point.
