Sean Dyche has showered heaps of praise on Everton duo James Garner and Idrissa Gueye after the Toffees earned a 1-0 win on Saturday.
The Toffees suffered a 3-0 defeat in the previous game against Manchester United at Old Trafford. However, they bounced back to winning ways at City Ground and registered their first win since they had 10 Premier League points deducted.
Dwight McNeil scored the only goal of the game in the second half, and the Toffees picked up all three points. Dyche has praised McNeil, but he was equaled thrilled by the performance of the midfield duo.
The Toffees boss hailed the pair as “terrific”, and suggested they were “absolutely outstanding” against Forest.
“Dwight deserves it. He puts a lot of work into his game. I ask it of all our players but he certainly puts in a shift for us. We know he’s got real quality: he can assist, he can score, and we’re really pleased for him. It’s a fine finish, without a shadow of a doubt. I must say, I thought our two central midfielders, Gana and Jimmy Garner, were terrific – absolutely outstanding,” said Dyche, as quoted by the club official website.
Dyche is doing an incredible job at Everton. Last season, he managed to steer the side to Premier League safety, and this season, he has made the side even better.
The Toffees suffered a massive heartbreak last month after they were docked ten points which puts them in the relegation zone. Everton’s parlous financial condition has been well documented, and amidst all these, Dyche is fighting hard to take his side to Premier League safety.
They have now picked up three wins in their last five games in the Premier League. Garner has been in terrific form this season, and he has become one of the key players under Dyche.
If Everton can continue picking up crucial wins, there’s no reason why they can’t avoid the drop.
