Rangers managed a 1-1 draw against Aris Limassol at Ibrox on Thursday night (30 November) in the Europa League.
The Bears are second in their group, one point behind Real Betis and need a win in their last game to secure a passage to the knock-out rounds.
Tam McManus was “staggered” to see the lack of quality upfront for Rangers. The Popular pundit, who appears in PLZ Football show, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the likes of “Danillo, Dessers & Lammers” are nowhere near to the quality of Alfredo Morelos who left the club in the summer.
Morelos was a top goalscorer for Rangers but the club failed to offer him a new deal. Ross McCausland struck the equaliser low off the post from the right to salvage a point, but a victory here would have sealed Europa League progress for the Ibrox side.
“Michael Beale has left some mess for Clement to sort out. I’m literally staggered at the amount of money spent on Danillo,Dessers & Lammers. None anywhere near the player Morelos was for Rangers,” wrote McManus on X.
Disappointing night at Ibrox
In a separate post, McManus was also left flabbergasted by the support from the Rangers fans who booed their players after every sloppy pass. He found the atmosphere very toxic.
Rangers will visit Betis in a tough final fixture and if they lose they could drop down to third in the group, which provides a Conference League parachute.
The makeshift partnership of John Souttar and Ben Davies at the back looked really vulnerable although Aris didn’t provide enough threat. It was a very flat performance from the Glasgow giants and apart from McCausland, other just didn’t step up.
