West Ham ready to offload Said Benrahma

West Ham are ready to listen to offers for Said Benrahma in the January transfer window, according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (17 December, page 74).

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has managed only four starts in the Premier League this season and a further seven appearances have come from the bench. He is yet to score this season and has managed just one assist in the league.

Since joining the club in 2020 from Brentford, Benrahma has made over 145 appearances for the Hammers, scoring 26 goals. Last season he scored a “stunning” goal against Crystal Palace which the Premier League described as “unstoppable”.

He is on £55k-per-week wages at the London club and has two years remaining on his current deal. Sunday Mirror claims that French outfit Lyon and clubs in Saudi Arabia are keen to sign him.

Mass exodus needed for transformation

In all these years, Benrahma has shown flashes of brilliance, but he has never been able to reach the dizzy heights that many had expected him to reach. Last season, he managed 12 goals in all competitions, but he hasn’t left a strong impact like Jarrod Bowen or Mohammed Kudus.

It’s high time that Moyes let him go to another club and bring in a quality attacking midfielder in January. Apart from Benrahma, Moyes is also keen to offload German defender Thilo Keherer as well. Kehrer wants to return to Germany and Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have registered an interest in the versatile defender.

West Ham have done well in European games this season but they have been very inconsistent in the Premier League.

Danny Ings, Aaron Cresswell, and Maxwel Cornet are also available, while Ben Johnson can leave in the January transfer window as he approaches the final six months of his contract.

Pablo Fornals is also likely to depart from the club either in January or at the end of the season.
