Aston Villa and FC Copenhagen have both submitted bids for Iceland international goalkeeper, Hakon Valdimarsson, in the January transfer window.
According to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the Villans have come up with a slightly better bid. Villa have made a bid of over €2m, while Copenhagen offered around €1.7m.
The 22-year-old was one of the top performers for Swedish outfit Elfsborg last season. He managed to keep 14 clean sheets in 29 games and as a result, several clubs are vying for his signature.
He has been targeted by Scottish champions Celtic as well, but at the moment they are yet to submit any offer.

Reliable back-up target?
Emiliano Martinez remains the first-choice goalkeeper at the club but Unai Emery is looking to bring in another reliable back-up option.
Robin Olsen is the second-choice goalkeeper at Villa Park but he lacks reliability. Valdimarsson has impressive stats and he is about to enter the prime years of his career.
It appears that Villa are looking to get him on board, and they have submitted a better offer. He has been a standout shot-stopper in the Swedish Allsvenskan, and Villa feel that he can do a decent job in the Premier League as well.
Meanwhile, Villa are also looking to add Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough but have been unsuccessful in their attempts. As of now, two bids have been rejected from Villa as Boro are refusing to wilt under pressure.
Villa have been superb this season under Emery and they have moved to third in the Premier League table so far.
