Aston Villa reject bid for Jhon Duran, eye two strikers

Aston Villa have rejected a bid from West Ham for striker Jhon Duran, according to a report from The Athletic.

Duran has struggled for regular game time this season, and West Ham, who are looking for a new striker, made a loan bid to sign him with an option to make the move permanent.

However, the Villans have rejected the offer. According to journalist Jacob Tanswell, Unai Emery is happy with his progress and wants to keep him.

The 20-year-old is on £30k-per-week wages at the club, and he wants to play regularly. The Athletic journalist adds that Villa are keen to sign two strikers in the January transfer window.

Good decision

The Colombian striker is a highly talented player but Emery probably feels that he is not yet ready to play week in week out. He has managed 14 appearances from the bench in the Premier League this season, scoring two goals.

He has also started in the FA Cup and the League Cup as well, and made four starts in the Conference League. Ollie Watkins is the first-choice striker at the club, and he is in terrific form this season. With Villa playing so well at the moment, Duran must stay calm and wait for his chance.

West Ham are desperate to add new strikers to their ranks this month, and could wait to see until the end if Villa would be willing to arrange a loan move for the young striker, especially if they can sign two strikers before the February 1 deadline.

Villa have made an approach for Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers but they have not been able to broker a deal.
