Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran is one of the players in demand in the January transfer window, and Chelsea have become the latest club to have registered an interest in signing him.
According to RCN Radio journalist, Guillermo Arango, Chelsea have intensified the race to sign Duran in the January transfer window.
Arango says that it won’t be easy to sign the 20-year-old before the transfer deadline. West Ham attempted to sign Duran this month on loan but Villa rejected the bid already.
“Chelsea has intensified the hiring of Jhon Durán from Aston Villa in recent hours However, it will not be an easy operation, “Los Villanos” rejected an offer from West Ham who wanted the forward on loan,” wrote Arango on X.
Duran has struggled for regular game time this season at Villa Park and clubs in the Premier League are looking to get him on board, albeit on loan.
He is on £30k-per-week deal at Aston Villa and Unai Emery doesn’t want to lose him. The club recognises that he is a terrific talent, and they are happy with his progress.
West Ham wanted to sign him on loan with a view to making it permanent next summer but it was rejected. Now it appears that Chelsea are looking to sign him.
A host of clubs have shown interest in Chelsea striker Armando Broja this month including Aston Villa. The Athletic reported earlier this month that Villa could be looking to sign two strikers before the end of the window.
If they look to revive their interest in Broja, they could look to use Duran as a part of the deal to reduce Chelsea’s asking price. Having said that, Villa are in the mix for a top-four finish this season, and they probably won’t be willing to sell Duran unless they sign a replacement.
