Everton enquire about signing Fabio Carvalho

Everton have asked about the possibility of signing Liverpool midfielder, Fabio Carvalho on loan, as per Rudy Galetti

The Portugal u21 International had a difficult spell in the Bundesliga where he only played 158 minutes across 9 cameo appearances for RB Leipzig in the first half of the season.

Everton’s head coach, Sean Dyche, would be keen on adding reinforcement to his squad as The Toffees are just one point above relegation places following a run of three consecutive defeats in the Premier League.

Carvalho is particularly of interest to Everton as he will provide depth and versatility due to his ability to play in any position across the attacking third.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and championship side, Leicester City are reported to have asked for information about the 21-year-old as both clubs eye possible loan moves for the midfielder this winter.

Carvalho set for another loan spell

After an eight-year stint with Fulham, Carvalho made a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window of 2022. In his first season at Liverpool, he contributed three goals in 21 matches.

While Carvalho was a regular performer for Jurgen Klopp in the first half of his debut 2022-23 campaign, he encountered increased competition for playing time in the second half.

Seeking further development, Carvalho was permitted to join Leipzig, a club known for providing consistent minutes to young players.

However, the “versatile” attacking midfielder experienced a bit-part role in the Bundesliga under Marco Rose, with Xavi Simons and Christoph Baumgartner preferred in the offensive positions behind Lois Openda and Benjamin Sesko.

Carvalho had a stint to forget while at Leipzig, making 15 appearances in all competitions while starting only three matches without registering a goal or assist during his time in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool have successfully terminated his loan spell as Leipzig didn’t have an option or obligation to make his stay permanent.

Despite his underwhelming spell with Leipzig, Carvalho is still attracting interest from Everton who will face stern competition from Wolves and Leicester for his signature.

Liverpool are open to loan offers for the midfielder and it remains to be seen if Everton can offer him significant game time.
