Liverpool recall left-back Owen Beck from loan spell

Liverpool have exercised their right to recall left-back Owen Beck from his loan spell at the club.

The 21-year-old joined Dundee Football club during the summer on loan, and he has enjoyed a fruitful spell at the Scottish club.

Dundee have confirmed on X that Beck will return to Anfield. They were full of praise for the young defender and hailed him for his “outstanding” performances.

Jurgen Klopp needs a back-up left-back at the moment, and it seems instead of delving into the transfer market, he could be pinning hopes on the young talent.

Good decision

Beck made 20 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring two goals. Liverpool probably would have allowed him to continue at the club for the rest of the season, but they need more bodies in the left-back areas.

Andy Robertson is nowhere near to return to training at the moment, while Kostas Tsimikas has broken his collarbone and should be out for a long spell.

Joe Gomez remains the only senior defender for the Reds who can fill the gap at left-back. With games coming thick and fast, Liverpool need another extra body. Moreover, Gomez is not a natural left-back, and he is being played there out of desperation.

Klopp can delve into the market and sign a new left-back, but that would be meaningless as both Robertson and Tsimikas will return at some point in the second half.

Liverpool probably could look to sign a new centre-back in the January window and they have been linked with a host of players including Japanese international Ko.
