West Ham United are reportedly among a number of European clubs eyeing a move for Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia.
The Senegal international is one of Serie A’s hottest properties this January, and II Mattino claims Napoli, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Newcastle United are also interested in the striker.
Since joining Salernitana on an initial loan deal in the summer of 2022, Dia has returned 20 goals and six assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
Compared to his 16 goals and six assists in 33 games last term, Dia’s form has taken a dip this season, rippling the net just four times in 13 Serie A outings.
Nonetheless, the striker’s stock is still high, and Salernitana are open to cashing in this January.
While there’s no shortage of suitors lining up to snap Dia up, West Ham are strongly considering a move for the Senegalese forward.
Salernitana are demanding at least €16 million to sanction a mid-season exit for the 27-year-old, but that wouldn’t be much of a problem for the Europa Conference League champions.
However, West Ham may have to move swiftly to get a deal over the line with other European clubs also keen, including Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt, who have shown a willingness to match Dia’s valuation.
Napoli have also been credited with an interest, but the Serie A champions would only make their move if Dia remains at Salernitana this January.
David Moyes could do with an out-and-out striker to bolster his ranks this term having relied on Jarrod Bowen in the centre-forward role this term.
The England international has been in sensational form for the Hammers, clocking 11 goals and two assists in 19 Premier League appearances.
Bowen ranks fifth on the Premier League’s goalscoring log, three goals behind Liverpool talisman and top scorer Mohamed Salah (14).
West Ham have excelled in the absence of a recognised centre-forward this season, but Dia’s potential arrival would aid their push for the European places.
