Andy Hinchcliffe makes ‘unbeaten’ Leeds United prediction

Leeds United have been outstanding in 2024 as they closed the gap with Leicester City at the top of the Championship to six points.

The Whites are also the only side in the Championship that have remained unbeaten at home this season. They are currently on a nine-game winning run and Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe has been left impressed with the balance of the side.

Only two weeks ago, it looked like Leicester would walk away with the Championship title as they had a healthy 12-point lead. However, two defeats in a row have allowed the Whites to close the gap.

The top priority for Leeds will be to secure an automatic promotion, although Southampton and Ipswich Town are breathing down their neck.

However, after the victory against the Foxes, Leeds will feel they have a chance here to further close the gap and win the title. Hinchcliff said on Sky Sports that Leeds are likely to go unbeaten in the league for the rest of the season.

“They [Leeds] are dominating home and away and I expect them to go unbeaten at Elland Road.

“The balance of their performances is superb with Gray and Ampadu going into the back four from midfield, and Gruev and Kamara into central midfield.

“The team actually looks better balanced now than it was previously so everything looks right for Leeds. Of course, Daniel Farke has experience of getting teams promoted and knows about the pressure at the top of the table, their form and position in the league is well deserved.”

Bold prediction

Leeds showed great determination and spirit to stage a dramatic comeback against Leicester City in the previous game. They were trailing by a goal until the 79th minute.

However, the Whites never lost faith in their abilities, and scored three quick goals to turn the tie over its head.

They have been really impressive so far but it’s hard to say whether they will go unbeaten. In football, anything can happen, and Leeds are yet to face some tough opponents.

Leeds are yet to face Hull City, while Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Blackburn can cause problems. Of course, they will face Southampton on the final day of the season, and that could be a massive game in the race for automatic promotion.

Daniel Farke probably will tell his players to focus on one game at a time, and not think about promotion or the title. If they keep on winning games, the league table will automatically take care of itself. But Hinchcliffe has made a bold prediction here, and it comes from what he has seen so far from this team.

Leeds will face Chelsea next in the fifth round of the FA Cup and here’s how I think the Whites could line up at Stamford Bridge.
