Barry Lewtas blown away by Liverpool talent Kaide Gordon

Liverpool teenage sensation Kaide Gordon has been in fine form this season and he has earned rich praise from the Under-21 boss Barry Lewtas.

The Reds Under-21 side produced an excellent performance last week where they earned a 3-1 Premier League 2 win over Stoke City at the Academy on Sunday afternoon.

Lewis Koumas netted twice as he continued his rich goalscoring form. Lewtas was full of praise for young attacker Gordon as well.

Lewtas praised the 19-year-old winger who made a “massive” run into the box to help the defenders out, which shows his attitude towards the game. The youngster was “sparkling” in the middle of the park, and Lewtas praised him for his outstanding work-rate.

“Kaide was brilliant. Just when I thought he was tiring towards the end of the game he made a massive run into the box to defend,” said Lewtas to Liverpoolfc.com.

“He was sparkling out there! Listen, not to single anyone out because I thought we as a team were good, but he was brilliant first half in between the lines.

“The way we set up really suited him as well, just playing a little bit more inside the pitch and showing a different side to his game and dribbling centrally. His work-rate has been brilliant, we showed the lads a video of our game against Fulham and Kaide was doing similar things.”

Fantastic talent

Gordon is a special talent, and Jurgen Klopp admires him. The youngster has already made six senior appearances for the Reds and has been included in the Europa League campaign this season.

The youngster has experienced an injury hell early in his career. His swift progress has been badly hampered by a long-term pelvic injury. He was out of action for around 19 months.

He has recently returned to the Under-21 side, and Lewtas feels the youngster will get back to his old best once he starts playing regular games.

Klopp has always given chances to young talents, and it will be interesting to see if Gordon gets more exposure for the senior side this season, especially in European games.

It’s really good to see that Gordon is playing well, and Klopp will be thrilled to find out that he is progressing strongly again.
