Crystal Palace discussing terms of deal with Oliver Glasner

Crystal Palace are looking to sack Roy Hodgson and appoint Oliver Glasner following their poor of form.

The Eagles have managed only two wins in their last 15 games in all competitions, and clearly, the board feels that Hodgson is incapable of turning it around.

According to Ed Aarons, it is only a “matter of time”, before the club confirms their decision to sack the veteran manager.

Glasner, the former Eintracht Frankfurt manager, is leading the race to become the next manager at Selhurst Park.

The Guardian journalist claims that “talks are ongoing” at the moment with the 49-year-old manager who wants a salary of around £4m a season.

“Talks are continuing today between Crystal Palace and Oliver Glasner over terms of deal to replace Roy Hodgson, with the Austrian understood to want a salary of around £4m a season. Hodgson due to speak to press at 1.30pm but now seems like a matter of time until he is sacked,” wrote Aarons on X.

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna was linked with a move for the potential managerial appointment, but he ruled out a move to Palace.

Glasner has been out of work since leaving the German club at the end of last season. He has managed clubs like Wolfsburg and Frankfurt. He did a great job with Frankfurt and led them to Europa League glory in 2022 when they beat Rangers in the final.

He also took Frankfurt to the German Cup Final in 2023. Palace have been dire this season, and Hodgson at times has looked completely out-of-depth.

Injuries have played a big part in Palace’s poor form, but one can’t help but feel that Hodgson’s time is truly over. At 76, this was probably his last shot at management.

Crystal Palace are currently 15th in the Premier League table with just 24 points, and are likely to avoid the drop.
