Crystal Palace still in hunt to sign Kilmarnock young striker Zander Craik

Crystal Palace are still in the hunt to sign Kilmarnock’s highly-rated teenage striker Zander Craik in the summer transfer window.

The Eagles tried to sign him in the January transfer window but they couldn’t get the deal over the line.

However, that hasn’t stopped them from checking his progress. Palace are checking his “situation closely”, and could try their luck again in a few months time.

According to a report from the Daily Record, a host of Premier League clubs including Newcastle and Nottingham Forest are also in the race, while Championship outfit Leeds are also keen to secure his services.

The 18-year-old is out of contract in the summer but the Scottish club are determined to keep him. They have offered him a new deal to fend off growing interest from Premier League clubs.

In case, he decides to move on for free, Crystal Palace will need to pay compensation.

Big summer ahead for Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner became the second manager in Crystal Palace’s history to have picked up a win in his first game in charge. While Palace are not likely to go down unless there is a dramatic collapse, they should be aiming to climb high up in the table and bring stability back to the club.

The new manager needs to be given time to assess where he needs to add depth, but that won’t stop Palace from recruiting exciting young players.

Craik has been at Killie for the past couple of seasons, and he is already training with senior boys at Rugby Park. Palace can tempt him with a better wage package, and the same is applied to other clubs as well.

The next summer could be very interesting for Palace. The likes of Marc Guehi and Michael Olise could be targeted by heavyweight Premier League clubs, and Palace could offload them and rebuild the team.
