Liverpool no longer an option for Kylian Mbappe with the imminent departure of Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool are no longer an option for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe with the imminent departure of manager Jurgen Klopp, according to Les Bons Conceil Du Sports editor Seb Ecrivain Foot.

The German is leaving the Anfield club at the end of the current campaign after nine years with them, and his exit is set to disrupt some of the transfer plans they have in place.

Mbappe has been perennially linked with Liverpool, but it appears the presence of Klopp was the only factor that could tempt the Frenchman into agreeing to a move.

The 25-year-old has told PSG he is leaving at the end of the season, and Real Madrid remain favorites to land him.

Mbappe has played in Ligue 1 all his career, with 184 goals to his name in 236 appearances, and while the former AS Monaco star would have been perfect for Liverpool, such a move has been dealt a huge blow after Klopp made his announcement.

Xabi Alonso has been tipped to replace the former Borussia Dortmund boss, but the Bayer Leverkusen manager is not the only one the Reds have on their radar.

The former Spanish midfielder could end the season with the Bundesliga title, but there are no guarantees he will be able to convince some of the Liverpool stars to stay if he is appointed as Klopp’s successor.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all been linked with potential exits ahead of the summer transfer window, and the Reds could have a huge battle on their hands to hold on to some of their most important stars once Klopp leaves.

They are also in search of a new sporting director after Jorg Schmadtke’s tenure came to an end after the January transfer window closed, but West Ham United technical director Tim Steidten has revealed that Liverpool are yet to get in touch with him.

It is an appointment they cannot afford to get wrong as it would determine who their next manager is and which players they can sign in the summer and the foreseeable future.
