Liverpool set to battle it out with Man City for Bakayoko

Liverpool are set to battle it out with Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich to sign Johan Bakayoko at the end of the campaign, according to Fichajes.

The Merseyside giants focused on reinforcing their midfield department last summer. The priority could turn to the attack and defence when the transfer window reopens.

Bakayoko has been on their radar for some period of time and Fichajes now claim that the Reds are in a four-way race with City, PSG and Bayern to land the PSV attacker.

His current contract expires in June 2026 and it is reported that the right winger is on track to leave his club this summer.

Bakayoko could be Mohamed Salah’s successor

Brentford attempted to sign Bakayoko from PSV last summer, but the winger decided to stay. He wanted a bigger challenge and preferred to play Champions League football.

The decision has proved worthwhile. The Belgian is enjoying the best phase of his young career. He has contributed six goals and 13 assists from 33 appearances in all competitions.

The PSV graduate has played exclusively from the right wing for the Eredivisie giants. If Liverpool were to move for him, it could lead to questions over the future of Mohamed Salah.

Salah was linked with a late big-money move to Al-Ittihad last summer, but the Reds had no desire to part ways with him.

However, with manager Jurgen Klopp confirming his exit at the end of the season, there is a possibility that the Egyptian could accept a move to the Saudi Pro League later this year.

Liverpool are unlikely to block his departure if he were to request a transfer. Bakayoko could be a good acquisition on the right wing. He has all the traits to become an elite winger.

The €40 million-rated star is a good distributor. He averages 30 passes per league game this term. He has completed an impressive three take-ons per outing while winning five duels.

The Belgian has created nine big chances for his teammates this campaign. He averages 2.3 key passes per appearance. He appears a no-brainer signing for the Reds for next season.
