Alexander Isak opens up on Newcastle United future

Newcastle United could be set for an interesting transfer window in the summer.

Despite rumours that Eddie Howe could face the sack, journalists like Craig Hope who have close connections with the club, says that the Magpies have no intention to part ways with him.

Newcastle believe that he is the right man for the job. The Magpies have gone through wretched luck with injuries, and the board are willing to consider that factor.

However, the big problem that now lies ahead of Newcastle is the threat of Financial Fair Play. Having splashed more than £500m since the Saudi Public Investment Fund’s takeover, the Magpies are now forced to operate on a tight budget.

Without Champions League football next season, the Magpies may need to offload not only their fringe players but some of their top assets. One of them could be Alexander Isak who has refused to rule out a move away from St James’ Park.

Alexander Isak opens up on Newcastle United future

Isak said to Swedish outlet Expressen: “It doesn’t affect me that much. It has been talked about many times, in many windows.

“I see it as just such a thing. Everyone knows that summer is coming and if things show up, things can happen, but I actually haven’t even thought about it.”

Isak is contracted at St James’ Park until 2028 and Newcastle can expect to earn profit from his sale. According to The Chronicle, Isak has been linked with a switch to Arsenal, and he is seen as one of those players who could be sold in the summer.

Howe has recently hinted that the Magpies may not need to sell loads of players, so Isak could still stay. It all depends on the club’s finances and where they stand in terms of breaching the PSR threshold.

The attacking midfielder has been in brilliant form this season, managing 12 goals in 17 starts in the Premier League.
