Early team news: Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise ruled out v Nottingham Forest

The Premier League resumes after a three-week break, and Crystal Palace are in action this week as they face Nottingham Forest

The Eagles will travel to City Ground on Saturday (30 March) to face Forest who have dropped down to the relegation zone after four points were docked for breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Oliver Glasner, who replaced Roy Hodgson, won his first match in charge, but Palace have since managed a defeat and a draw in their two games. Palace must have enjoyed the break, and they should be fresh and ready to end the season on a high.

Ahead of the match, Glasner has confirmed that Michael Olise will miss the clash against Forest. The 22-year-old has returned to training, which is good news for the club, but the weekend fixture may have come too soon for him.

Olise hasn’t played since early February but it won’t be long before he returns to the side. Glasner has hailed him as a “brilliant player” and he hopes to get him back shortly.

What Oliver Glasner said about Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise

Glasner said: “It’s good news, but he’s not in the squad [for Nottingham Forest].

“He did many parts of training this week – not all the parts – and he’s on the way back, but the Nottingham game is too early, the Bournemouth game [on Tuesday] is too early, then we will see in the next days.

“Of course, Michael showed in the sessions that he’s a brilliant player, but the focus is on all the other players tomorrow because I don’t look too far in the future. It’s important to focus on the Nottingham game.”

Crystal Palace injury news v Forest

Palace enjoyed a mid-season training camp in Marbella and the players have used the time to get to know about the new manager’s philosophy.

Jeffrey Schlupp was also missing since early February but he is now back for the Eagles, which is a fantastic piece of news.

However, the biggest blow of course has come from the England camp as goalkeeper Sam Johnstone picked up an elbow injury. He has undergone surgery and is out for the rest of the season.

Usually, it will take months to heal, and Glasner is confident that the player will deal with it perfectly. Marc Guehi and Cheick Doucoure are long-term absentees, but Glasner is hopeful that they can return before the end of the season.

In other Crystal Palace news, BBC pundit Chris Sutton has shared his prediction for the Eagles’ Premier League clash v Nottingham Forest.
