FA Cup: Predicted Liverpool starting XI v Man Utd

Liverpool will travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday (17 March).

The Reds are aiming for the historic quadruple this season, having already won the Carabao Cup by defeating Chelsea.

Liverpool are heading into this game on the back of a 6-1 win against Sparta Prague, and 11-2 on aggregate in the Europa League, and they will be in full confidence.

Manchester United have struggled badly in the Premier League this season, but they will be charged up for this game. Historically, this is one of the greatest rivalries in world football, and anything can happen in a cup game.

Liverpool could miss the likes of Ibrahima Konate as the Frenchman remains a major doubt for this game, but Mohamed Salah and Ryan Gravenberch are both available for selection.

Klopp is likely to make a few changes from the side that won against Sparta. Bobby Clark is struggling with fitness, and in all probability, he will make way for more experienced Alexis Mac Allister.

In defence, Joe Gomez has been simply outstanding for the club in recent months and deservedly earned a call to the England national team. The 26-year-old could be dropped for this game with Virgil van Dijk set to return.

If Konate fails to recover, there would be a temptation to use Gomez, but given how admirably Jarell Quansah has progressed this season, it makes sense for the youngster to start alongside the Dutch defender.

Gomez can also play as a right back, but Klopp probably would stick with Conor Bradley who has been phenomenal since he broke into the senior team.

Cody Gakpo scored twice in the last game, but Luis Diaz would be a natural choice. Liverpool need to exploit the wide areas while Diaz’s work rate can make a huge difference.

Thus Klopp could make three changes to the side from the last game with Gomez, Clark and Gakpo making way for Van Dijk, Mac Allister and Diaz.

Predicted Liverpool starting XI: Kelleher, Van Dijk, Robertson, Quansah, Bradley, Endo, Szobozlai, Mac Allister, Nunez, Salah, Diaz.
