Ian Wright blown away by Arsenal defender Ben White

Arsenal moved to the top of the Premier League table after winning 2-1 against Brentford at the Emirates on Saturday.

Kai Havertz scored in the 86th minute as the Gunners earned a crucial win ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side started the game strongly and took the lead in the 19th minute through Declan Rice’s flicked header.

A mistake from Aaron Ramsdale, who was playing because David Raya was ineligible against his parent club, allowed Yoane Wissa to score at the stroke of halftime.

Ramsdale redeemed himself in the second half and made some very good saves. In the end, Havertz scored a fantastic header to seal all three points, although he should have been booked for diving earlier on.

Ben White was one of the standout performers for the Gunners, and Ian Wright praised him heavily on Match of the Day, saying he was “magnificent”.

“Ben White was magnificent, Sake did well obviously,” said Wright.

“Ben White finds him [Declan Rice, while watching footage] and he has been brilliant. Two assists in two games. He has been playing really well.”

Arsenal are unstoppable at the moment

Can we now take Arsenal seriously in the Premier League title race? They have been tremendous since the turn of the year, picking up seven wins in a row in the Premier League.

In the previous games, they were scoring goals for fun. But on Saturday, they faced a real challenge from Brentford. What has been really impressive is the manner in which they have tore their opponents apart, having managed 31 goals in seven league wins.

However, the Gunners stayed calm and created a barrage of chances. Eventually the goal from Havertz, with White providing a delicious cross from the right.

The 26-year-old defender also provided an assist for Rice and was superb at the back as well. He made one tackle and played three key passes, according to whoscored.
