Lee Hendrie raves about Tottenham loanee Japhet Tanganga

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Japhet Tanganga impressed once again despite Millwall suffering a 2-0 defeat against Leeds United on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was recalled in the January transfer window from his nightmare loan spell at Augsburg and was sent to Millwall for another loan spell until the end of the season.

He has found his form again and has made 10 appearances in the Championship (nine starts), scoring two goals.

Against Leeds United at Elland Road, Tangana made one brilliant clearance in the box to keep Millwall in the game when the score was still 1-0. Dan James scored late in the game, but it was a crucial tackle made by the defender inside the box.

Patrick Bamford got into a great scoring position, but Tanganga was equal to the task and cleared the danger with great aplomb. Lee Hendrie, while co-commentating on the game on Sky Sports, hailed him as “first-class”.

“This is James, that’s Bamford, and that is a heroic piece of defending by Tanganga. He has kept them in the game,” said Daniel Mann.

“Have a look at the challenge from Tanganga. First-class,” said Hendrie.

Japhet Tanganga faces an uncertain future at Tottenham

Tanganga has progressed through the youth ranks at Spurs, but doubts remain whether he will be given one more chance to impress Ange Postecoglou next summer.

He has a contract at the north London club until 2025, and Spurs probably will sell him at a decent price following his impressive loan spell at Millwall.

Ange Postecoglou recently admitted that Spurs could be looking to sign one more top-quality centre-back in the summer. They already have the likes of Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and Cristian Romero in their ranks, and another defender is needed.

This indicates that Postecoglou may have already made his decision on players who are on loan. Joe Rodon has been outstanding for Leeds this season, and there is no indication that he could be a part of Tottenham’s squad next season.

The Spurs boss probably will be happy to see that Tanganga is doing well at Millwall and it only boosts their chance of selling him in the summer at a decent price.
