Sam Allardyce predicts outcome of Liverpool clash v Man City

Liverpool will take on Manchester City on Sunday (10 March) at Anfield in the Premier League in arguably the most anticipated match of the season that could have a huge bearing on the title race.

The Reds have won their last four games in the Premier League and are leading the table with 63 points, one point above Manchester City who are on a great run and defeated derby rivals Manchester United in their previous league game.

Arsenal are currently lying in third with 61 points, and they have a great chance of winning the title as well. This is also the last time Jurgen Klopp will be facing Pep Guardiola in the Premier League as he will leave the club at the end of the season.

Liverpool do have a better record at Anfield against Manchester City, but Sam Allardyce feels that a draw is the most likely outcome. He thinks that City have a “leaky” defence, but Liverpool are also missing some of their key players.

“Depends on Liverpool’s senior players being fit because I am not so sure the youngsters will handle Man City,” said Allardyce on No Tippy Tappy Football podcast.

“From the other point of view, Manchester City is still a bit leaky goalwise which is unusual. So, I’d say it’s a draw.”

Liverpool ready for the challenge

The Reds have somehow managed to pick up wins and stay at the top without some of their key players, which is remarkable.

Jurgen Klopp’s side is still missing the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Alisson, and Curtis Jones among others, but Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai are back in the side, and it’s a huge boost for the club.

Salah has been a nemesis for Man City over the years, and with him in the side, Liverpool will feel they have a big chance to win the game.

Szoboszlai has also returned from a long injury lay-off and scored in the 5-1 win over Sparta Prague. Klopp said ahead of the match that it won’t be a title-deciding game, and a draw won’t be a bad result either.

In other Liverpool news, Erling Haaland has been blown away by ‘monster’ Reds player.
