Tottenham could offload Ryan Sessegnon

Tottenham Hotspur could look to offload some of their players next summer to free up the space for potential new arrivals.

In his first season at the club, Ange Postecoglou has made a tremendous impact. Tottenham are battling with Aston Villa for a place in the top-four and they might play in the Champions League even if they finish fifth this season.

Spurs are expected to ship out fringe players like Japhet Tanganga and Sergio Reguilon permanently. And there is a feeling that Ryan Sessegnon could be offloaded as well.

The 23-year-old left-back, who can also play as a left-winger, has struggled with injuries this season. After missing 11 months of action due to hamstring surgery it looked like he was on his way back to full recovery then he picked up another injury while playing for the U21 side that ruled him out for the rest of the season.

According to a report from football.london, a “tough decision” will be made on Sessegnon who is expected to return to pre-season training fully fit.

Sessegnon will become a free agent at the end of the season but Spurs have the option to extend his deal for another year. The North London club signed the defender for around £30m in 2019, but they could lose him for free now.

He arrived at Tottenham from Fulham with the reputation of being one of the highly-rated talents in the Premier League. He showed so much potential, and Noel Whelan described him previously in 2020 as an “outstanding” player.

Postecoglou didn’t get the chance to see him properly and it would be really harsh on him if the club decide to let him go. He can be a potent weapon under Postecoglou and the club need to make a big decision on him in the coming months.
